I am an Egyptian national and I have worked throughout the Arab world for many years, including in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco. I currently live in one of Europe's more chronically delusional states.
A progressive pan-Arab, I had despaired at the state of the Arab world, which until recently appeared to be forever regressing, politically, socially and culturally.
The "Jasmine Revolution" in Tunisia in December 2010, the fall of the senile pharaoh Hosni Mubarak in Egypt shortly afterwards, followed by the brave uprising of the Libyan and Syrian peoples and the simmering revolutions in the Arabian peninsula, have created hope that one day we, the Arab people, will break the shackles that bind us to backwardness and dictatorship and realize our freedom and independence.
